I'm thinking of getting a sharer for my 6 yr old mare as I need a bit more time to take on more work for a while. Does anyone have any tips on finding a reliable, honest sharer? Or how much I could expect them to pay me for towards livery fees etc?

You could advertise in other livery yards, vets and feed merchants.
The price depends on a lot of variables, such as what can be done with said horse, how many days etc. You also have to consider this market, and not expect too much financially in honesty

As she is young i would say the best way to find a decent sharer is to not ask for too much money! I have found that the less i ask the better the quility of rider i get to share my horse. I currently get £15 a week for a two day share of my competition horse but the sharer schools him nicely and enjoys a bit of jumping. In the advert i put what level he was riding at, that he was safe but no novice/nervous riders and only competant, reliable people (basically made it look ad bit daunting for someone who doesnt really know what they are doing to put them off!). I got loads of responses but was subjective and found someone brilliant for him.

Also do you have a university near your yard? If yes you could try and get an advert emailed around there as there are often a lot of students who have horses at home and want something to share whilst they are studying, my sharer is a student and she is a brill rider!

Post your location on here too there are a few people that are keeping their eyes out for shares on here. I'm in the east midlands and I'd be interested in a share for me or hubby that is a bit more interesting than just a happy hack! If you are local PM me.
