its a field we have let rest since last summer as it was overgrazed.. last year there were about 10 or 20 plants in it that were dug up to remove them.. silly me did not check it in spring.. just inspected this week... and yes there are thousands of plants.... aaarrrggghhh.
spent from 7.30 am till 1pm trying to remove some of them... i think you could fill a small horse trailer to the roof with what i have got up so far.. and i have maybe cleared about a quarter of an acre.. only another 3 acres to go... soooo . guess i am not grazing this field this year
can't dig anymore plants up, or it will just look like a ploughed field.. going to try pulling them up and then get the field sprayed it october, and spring... see if that cures it..
I started in the corner of one of my fields then gave up as there were just so many it didn't even make a dent! need to get on the farmers case to get them sprayed! im lucky i have enough other fields to use but would be screwed if that was all i had!
For the 1st time in 40 years of horses ownership I owned my own ragwort. I have spent many years pulling other peoples, square by square with moderate success. As the ragwort is now my own I persuaded my husband and investment in spray was required so it was sprayed in spring and has has sheep on it to clear the rest up, result no apparant living plants apart from where the spray misses at the edges. If you have the space it is the most effective way to get rid of it.
