This follows on from BBPs difficulties in getting up from rolling/lying down. About 2 weeks ago I was certain it was time to PTS. I even had the obligatory final sunset photos. Then he does this. And has done it every time I have seen him this week. Like a normal horse. And bizarrely has gone from not being able to resist the tail pull test whilst standing, to bracing up against it like he should. He’s also being more of a naughty pest, and instigating games with the others instead of being irritable when they try to play. All in a week. I have no idea what has changed! He certainly isn’t following advice to take it easy. He’s a ‘live fast die young’ sort of a horse, but if he keeps getting up normally then he has bought himself some time.

That is definitely much better than the last video maybe he just pulled something and was a bit sore for a while, i would be very happy with that now though, one of my horses sits up on his back end before he gets up it is literally a second or 2 so I have never been too concerned.

I’ve been looking back at old videos and he’s been struggling to get up for longer than I had realised, so I’m not sure why it has changed suddenly. The only things I’m doing are daily massage, red light therapy, and static tail pulls to get him to contract the muscles in his quarters. Plus I’m rugging him. And I’ve been improving his feet, so he no longer camps under as much front and back.

Photos below show a typical posture in June and a typical posture now, using hoof boots with pads mostly (I’m aware he needs to lose a fair bit of weight, we have both been out of action til now)

Really excellent news! I hope it continues. It sounds like he's had some kind of nerve damage/issue that is resolving? As you said a trapped nerve or something. Maybe the physiotherapy you've been doing has released whatever was causing the problem.

Wow! Looks much better in the video compared to the previous ones of him getting up! That's great!

Random curiosity: did you change anything in his diet in the past weeks or months?

It could also be that the feet were sore so he was compensating elsewhere, when my horse is not right his whole posture changes until his feeling better.

His back end looks better in the second picture as does his whole demeanour.
