Not long got off the phone to a friend who is non horsey but who's sister has a horse so she tries really hard to be knowledgeable and interested (she's not, they scare the life out of her). She's lovely though and always asks about mine.
She casually mentions that her sister's horse had been a dickhead of late and had to have "special testing". She then goes on to tell me, in all seriousness, that he has been diagnosed with....
Wait for it.....

My dear mother, who is non-horsey, went to the local saddlery to get a birthday present for my husband - a specific book on classical dressage. However, she asked if they had any publications antique horseback riding instead.

The lovely lady who owns the store kept a straight face, found the appropriate book, sold it to her saying nothing and then called me absolutely cacking herself with laughter.
