When I lost my beloved Dalmatian I was left with this little cretin, who up until then had been much loved but second fiddle to my bestest boy. This lovely little pig wasn't my choice of purchase, but I was left in a situation where if I didn't take him he would have a bit of a rough ride, so I took him on. I didn't want a JR and I'm not the best person for him but I love him more than anything.

I am worried about him lately, the ginger is fading from his muzzle and he is looking old. I am starting to see him as an older gentleman, at seven years old, rather than my baby boy. When I peel back his blanket in the morning to say goodbye to him, he likes to lie in, he has started to look old and it is worrying me. Is now the time that I should start giving him supplements, to keep his joints young and help him 'last longer'.

Lots of money to anyone who can invent a 'live forever' potion. :o

Wow only if we could get that. My baby boy was sent to doggy heaven at 8 years is have week and half ago, missing him like crazy.

I wouldn't know when is best to give them supplements, I've thought perhaps I should of followed some of suggestions in sites of CDRM and given Joey the drug they said could help or any of the vitamin, but vet told me there's nothing really to do and i went with it.

Do some research, hope some 2 in the forum can help x

Hi, my little JRT is 16 so 7 is still a youngster to me! He's old, has cataracts (sp?) And has had all his teeth removed very recently. He's a little slower on walkies and I let him decide when he wants to come home, but still barks on the back of the sofa when someones outside, still nicks the cat food when he gets the chance and still plays ball and has special time (aherm!) With his favourite teddy!

I can't give you advice on supplements but I just wanted to let you know some of these little blighters go on forever! Xx

Ahhhh he sounds adorable :p little monkey. Yup, I know that generally this little ones live a long time but then every time the inlaws ask 'how old is he now?', they then tell the story of their two who died at 9 and 10. The thought of only a few more short years is worrying me. I love him :o

Please don't worry.

Unfortunately all we can do is our best. My lad has a little oap health check when he goes to the vets for his booster and claw clip, he's a little savage so we have to muzzle him for this. Naughty pooch!

I love my boy dearly but I know he won't be with me forever. But in the meantime he gets all the love, and fuss and cuddles he can manage, even if he is a grump!

So just carry on with the love and cuddles and playtime and enjoy him :) and don't worry.

He is gorgeous by the way!!

He looks lovely and certainly looks a character, age is a funny thing, I lost one of my dogs age 4 so you can never tell.

Perhaps if you tell us what you are feeding him we can suggest something better, we cant stop time but maybe able to suspend it.:)

Thanks Db, sorry you lost yours so long. My Dalmatian died age 7 so that's why I am probably focussing on his age.

He is fed James Wellbeloved for 'little dogs'.
