So I’m having a clear out. Many things aren’t going to fit Faran that belonged to previous horse and ponies of mine. Rugs, boots etc.

So looked at Kia’s saddle, the thought of parting with it just made me feel sick. I bought it in 2008 brand new and we had so many adventures in it. However welshies are notorious for being short backed so of the wee guy was never going to be long enough for a 17.5 then it would have to go to help fund a new one for him in 18months to be backed.

So brought him in, fed him then just popped the saddle on, he didn’t give two flying fecks, girth up the lot no issues at all. The surcingle work is clearly head done it’s job, helps he’s pretty laid back and trusts me too ?

So I had a wee bubble and my hopes of backing him in this saddle might still be alive. I’ll just have to buy some wider gullets as that’s a wide plate in it just now ??

Just wanted to share ?

My Welsh Cob wears my late Fell ponies saddle. I will never part with the saddle. It was bought new in 2002 and barely looks a year old. Too many memories to part with it.

I really didn’t want to part with it and I’m so glad I don’t have to. Many many miles, memories, falls, successes, epic fails and epic saves have happened in it. Makes me cry but smile when I think back x

I bought a Clydesdale mare with her tack, many years ago (must be 35+). We ditched the bridle early on and got her a replacement m2m. After she was pts the next Clydie wore that saddle and I tried it on the Draft horse when I was looking for a saddle that fitted her - unfortunately it was too narrow - she was built like a barrel on legs. However the bridle is still going strong. It needed a longer browband for the 2nd Clydie, then the ID wore it, and so did the Draft mare. It is still hanging on the dresser in the kitchen.

Then why part with it! I have my first mare's saddle from her last ride in 1991 and in it before she died in 1995 and my boy's mum saddle from 2012, i will not part with them. My motto is, do I really need the money from selling them? I will get much less for them. When I get a new one for newish mare ( which I did), I will find away to purchase it without loosing them. ANd............. I did.. got a nice Kent and Masters And. I still have the County and GF saddle stored away.

What a good chap he is in the saddle. ::)

Thanks everyone ❤️ He’s such a good wee soul. Picked a good un lol ?

I don’t know if I could keep something that would be of use to someone else and give them good memories. I have kept named saddle pads and various other small items that really wouldn’t be of much use. However I don’t have to worry about it now. This can be his until he is grown and can get a big boy saddle of his own #probablybeskintafterwards ? lol
