Have to share this as i roared with laughter when i heard it..... Ok i know we all had to start at the beginning with horses and at the age of 43 I still learn things nearly every day but was i ever this naive?
A girl up our yard was complaining her mare was acting weird. She wasnt in my opinion but thats another story. I said "Is she in season?" The reply was "no but she is very wet in the stable and squriting all over the place". Well, she is then was my reply.
The mother then appeared from the stable after listening to us and said "she cant be we havent seen any blood!"
They truly believed that mares have "periods". I think i might take a pack of tampons up later incase she needs them.....
