So, I went to three, yes THREE seperate tack shops in my area (I missed out 1 which was in the other direction). On my shopping list were 3 items...
1 black OR navy cottage craft head collar in PONY, with adjustable nose and head - cheek isn't so important.
1 black lead rope with the 'push in clip' not the pull down clip - if you understand that, a choccy biccy for you!! (sure there is a name for it??)
1 MW 6ft turnout without and I mean WITHOUT any full necks, hood attachments, clip chest fastenings, elastic straps or fixed leg straps.... Colour not really important but prefer not to have bright pink or purple!! - bugdet also applies... I really can't do £100+!!

So, the first tack shop I looked, NO balck or navy head collars, let alone cottage craft.. only 1 red pony one - all the others were padded to the nines extra full horse size!!
Their lead ropes were ALL multi coloured, and had the 'dreaded' pull down clips!
And as for the rugs, not ONE were for sale without full necks - let alone under the £100 barrier....

So, moving on to shop number 2

Found a balck small pony head collar - gave up on the cottage craft, I got a cheap look-a like version.... it won't stand up to the elements much (head collars stay by the field) but it is a nice size for Penny without her growing out of it in 2 secs flat!!
Looked at the rugs - same as before. The lady said she had 1, ONE rug that fitted my requirements in stock, but it had magicly disapeared.... I asked if she could order another one in, only to be told the new one would not be on offer so therefore out of my price range!!
No lead ropes that I wanted either.....

And we move on to shop number 3

Rugs - now iam losing my cool, I couldn't find anything that matched my 'wanted' list here either... too big, too small, lightweight, too many attachments, wrong chest fastenings but mainly my dreaded FULL NECKS.
I also found a cottage craft head collar - in pale blue, but lovely all the same - I put it back for another day!! - thats good dedication from me!!!
AND yayy, a black lead rope - perfect... who'd have thought that black lead ropes were like searching for a pebble on a beach = plenty of them, yet can you find one you want??

SO, I now have a black pony (ok, its small pony) head collar - i gave up on the cottage craft, a 'nice clip' black lead rope
BUT
No beeping rug!!
WHERE DO I GET the rug I want from?? Do they even come in normal - without full necks ect...?? Help much appricaited!!!

derby house should do you a rug like the one you are after? http://www.derbyhouse.co.uk/Equestr...by+House+Medium+Standard+Turnout_402-0167.htm
I have one like this but the full neck and it is fab - no leaking probs and good quality. The leg straps can be removed as they just loop through a ring, buckle fronts and no elastic that I have noticed. It is wearing well too as it is put through it's paces by a very muddy horse!

Thankyou, but sadly not quite right. I need to have a double buckled chest, and without any elasticated straps.... Meg is a rug trasher and stretches all elastic, undo's clip fastening and regulaly rips along the chest and sides of the rug. She has also cut her hind legs on the leg straps (don't ask - i have no idea, she just had cuts and had pulled the straps off the rug one day) - a fillet string works better!!
I really ideally need to see the rug and inspect it to 'damage score it'! lol

I've just been searching on-line for new rugs, and noticed robinsons on-line rug rummage starts Thursday..... I think I'll be waiting till then!;)

must be something about black leadropes...... I tried to find one of those "soft" ones last week, and had to settle for navy - from 3 local tack shops.
