This stocks driving me MAD!!!-Tips?

I must have had 10+ attempts at TRYING to tie it and gosh i'm about to give up!
HELP?!

Any tips?

Am into my 6th season hunting and still can't tie mine!!!

Think there is a post on the hunting forum re 'how to tie a stock' - with mine I just do the first knot, then leave it there with both ends hanging down straight (if that makes any sense either!!!)then put pin in.

I found this to be clearest demonstration, never could do it from a diagram.

just out of interest is it easier to tie with cotton or silk?

I tie mine with a reef knot, not sure if that's the "correct" way, but from looking at picture guides and videos, that's all it seems to be.

No idea which is easier to tie, after my first few iffy attempts, I never had much difficulty.
