We were expecting it to be windy but we weren't prepared for gales. We've got gusts of around 55mph here.

Just been out to top up hay and got thrown across the yard when a gust caught the hay shed door sending me flying and knocking me off my feet. Fell on to a grass verge so not hurt, just a bit winded.

Decided it was too dangerous to be outside so chucked hay over stable doors grabbed the dog and went back indoors.

Hope everyone is indoors warm and dry!

I'm in the Southwest of England (East of Exeter) and we are fairly high up here.

Kevin my lovely Light Sussex rooster was out in the yard earlier and he nearly got blown away by a particularly strong gust of wind! He's a bit of a wuss at the best of times but this one practically lifted him off his feet! Funny but we always seem to get a good old storm at some point during the half-term break and this one certainly hasn't broken the tradition.

We have also had a lot of overnight rain here, not helpful if you're on Devon Red Clay which turns to red goo - and particularly not helpful if you have a piebald - nay Hippo - with a lot of white who has set up her own dedicated Wallow Hole...........

Mercifully, I managed to find perhaps the one yard in the area which isn't Red Clay, just regular brown clay. I have not missed having orange tinted ponies :D

It was awful in South lincs. When it rained you couldn't see. Never seen wind like it. Trees down all over. There was a show on locally and I cannot believe people risked their horses travelling in it!!

My big lad has already spotted the electric fence coming loose and negotiated ticking, flapping white strands to escape into the rested and reseeded bit. I'm fully expecting to find him back there when it's daylight! Also hoping the huge Ash tree is upright ?
