am fairly sure our horse has a thoroughpin, soft swelling on hock that can be pushed through.it is there most of the time but has gone down at times.im going to keep an eye on it to be sure.are they normally problematic and can we work as normal.she is my daughters pony club horse and was only bought and vetted 2 months ago.dont recall her having it before but not done any hard work.

My mum's hunter had a MASSIVE thoroughpin which didnt seem to trouble him much at all, the vet suggested we rub goose fat on it everyday, i have no idea what it does but it worked a treat and he is back to normal now!

Just keep an eye on it.... most times they cause no problem at all, mine has/had one which caused absolutely no problem, until April this year, when it got bigger and his jumping went from good to catastrophic from one week to the next... vet took the fluid off, injected with Hyonate and it has remained down ever since and the jumping is back to normal again. Vet said to me just to keep an eye on it and if it got big and under pressure again then we may have to drain again.
