I had a thorowgood t4 cob saddle fitted today by the saddler, xxwide (silver s-bar) she has huge shoulders and this seems to fit well. Hacked out for half hour or so just walking and when i got back i was sore and a bit achy on my seat bones :o:o would a seat saver do the trick?? i thought it would be comfortable but its not :(
Does anyone else find there thorowgood uncomfortable?? it feels a little harder than my well used GFS leather one.
Seat saver recommendations please!! am taking it the faux sheepskin won't be as nice as a real merino one, also what are the memory foam ones like? (the suede type ones)
thanks

They are definitely firmer and less giving than a good leather saddle, but more comfy than a poor leather saddle I think.

I have ridden in mine for 4-5 years even on 3 hour hacks up hills and mountains and an endurance ride, but I have to admit to just treating myself and my bum to an Ideal H&C saddle secondhand AND I am buying a heather moffatt seat saver from a friend, so will be able in a few weeks to report back on how much difference it makes!

My excuse for going soft is Ive just had a major 'op' and therefore feel justified in going for the comfy sofa approach when I am finally allowed to take up the reins again :-))

We have the wintec cob saddle which has a comfy seat. My mare has the old version without which is very hard on the botty. I have a Heather Moffat seat saver and it is extremely comfortable. Plus it has the added bonus of helping you sit still in the saddle

I have the prolite seat saver on mine, I hadn't been using it for a while as wanted to try it without, but I put it back on last week and it was heaven for my seatbones! I also have the Mattes wool one but prefer the prolite one.

Just wish they didn't cover them in 'drylex' fleecy stuff as hair sticks to it like mad.

I have an Acavallo Gel Out seat saver and its VERY comfy, its also sticky so helps stay in the saddle. I would havethought if you persevere your bottom bones will get used to the saddle!!

I've got a heather moffat seat saver and would definately not be without it!!! It's so comfortable and well worth the money xx

Although I have an inbuilt seat saver ;) my Heather Moffat one is now 15 years old and still as good as new.

I've ridden my friend's cob in a Thorowgood Cob saddle several times so I know what you mean. It's quite firm, there's just no 'give' in the seat.

The Heather Moffett seatbone saver gets my vote. There are cheaper alternatives out there with fake suede, but they're not quite as good.
