Hi

Due to my horse's changing shape at the minute I have bought him a Thorowgood Griffin Hi wither GP. Does anyone know how the fish system works? Is it similar to Wintec's changeable gullet? Have googled but only bringing up saddles for sale :(

The fish is plastic oval inserts (about 2" wide and 6" long) that slide up under the points of the tree (the hole for them is just above where the stick on knee-rolls velcro to), between the tree points and the flocking. They don't make the gullet angle wider or narrower but they do lift the saddle little - bit like putting a thick pud under the saddle. However they can cause pressure points if the flocking at the front is a bit dead.

They only give you roughly half a 'width fitting' adjustement, so ideal for horses who put on or losse a little weight over the year, or for those that needs the front lifted a little for balance, but they will not make an incorrect width saddle fit.

Hi thanks for that. Bit disappointed now, bought it from ebay and asked if it had an interchangeable gullet, seller said it had. After looking at it, couldn't figure out how to change the width!!
Will have to see if I can send it back as it's a Medium and I was planning on altering it to make it wider. Obviously the fish inserts would be counter productive.
Thanks again for the help.
