Can anyone tell me more about this saddle? Somebody is offering me one as a trade & if I take it, it would be for my pony mare who has a short, curved back. She is currently in a Stubben Juventus D with 31 cm gullet if that is any indication.

Thanks in advance.

Well designed but cheap saddles. Decent shaped tree and decent panels, esp with the Cob version (square cantle) Flocking is ok synthetic wool too. Materials they're made of are cheaper but that's cosmetic. The newer designed are better made than the older but also more expensive new.

As for fit it's nearly impossible to telll as thorowgood change the design of maxam's every couple of years. Some are very flat and wide, others very curved and narrow. They generally come up fairly short in the panel like many TGs'.

Be careful of the tree as older maxams are prone to twisting: look carefully down from above/behind and line the pommel and cantle up to look for twist.

It'll be a case of try it and see.

Thanks!

Planning to meet at the barn where I board tomorrow so should be able to try the saddle on for size/fit. Not a huge loss if it doesn't fit as I don't need another saddle, since I'm trying to get rid of one.
