They are the best thing I have found for general slipping saddle, but when I googled, it seems none of the major on line shops have any stock... and there aren't any on ebay....
Any one know if they are still being made?

Mmmm, can't help with the Thorowgood ones, but I've got a fab Zilco non-slip one. Its the one the endurance people use, and I got it on E-bay.

Fab! the saddle sticks like a limpet. I was told by a friend who does endurance that the little rubber bobble things on the inside, massage the horse's back as you ride and so prevent soreness. Also it wicks away sweat and dampness. It holds the saddle in place without any straps, so much easier and less fiddly.

A thoroughly efficient piece of kit IMO!

So it is bad news... I shall have to keep my eyes peeled on ebay for second hand ones.
Thank you for the suggestions. the Barnsby one looks great but is three times the price, but am I right in thinking it is non slip to both the saddle and the horse?
I'll google the Zilco one too...

In DIY stores they sell rolls of soft non-slip mesh stuff, I think it's to stop things sliding off desks/tables. I've tried a piece of that recently after reading about it on a treeless forum post. It works really well, put it straight onto horses back (lifted up over withers) numnah on top, saddles don't move.;)

Try nuumed, they do a line of non slip numnahs.
Or try the ones on the Strada website. I have a couple of these and they don't seem to slip either.

Not heard of Strada, but that looks interesting, I like Nuumed stuff.
I know the other stuff, have some in car, but never thought of trying it on the horse
Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Sorry but if your saddle is slipping then it doesnt fit. Or you have it girthed up wrongly for your individual horse.

Most of the non slip pads for sale are made from rubbery or man made materials. Horrible! They cause so much friction. Try rubbing one on your arm- its horrible. The hairs get pulled really easily. A numnah doesnt rectify the problem, which is that the saddle doesnt fit. It may keep the saddle slightly more secure but only by causing friction and/or pulling/gripping on the hair. Poor horse! :(

You really need to see why the saddle is slipping- either because it doesnt fit, or the flocking and/or girthing needs adjusting.

Man made materials on a sweaty back are also asking for bacterial problems, such as folliculitis.

I use the thorowgood numnah and a thorowgood girth on the advice of the saddler who fitted my saddle.
I am happy that their professional and experienced advice is that my saddle does fit but to also use something which can limit the possibility of it slipping.

Really annoying when saddle slips and people say it doesn't fit! Some horses are just not that easy.

I've just sold my Throwgood on ebay and was surprised that it went for so much - now I know why!

I have a numed it was a lot of money but does the business. Also have a Barnsby one but had to sew velcro straps on myself - cost more than the numed so surprised.

I was thinking about a prolite non slip pad and have also looked at some draw lining sticky stuff too.

I found the Thorowgood one very good, would help stop slippage for a long days hunting, when up and down some steep hills!
Maybe the sticky drawer liner for everyday and a more expensive Barnsby or Nuumed one for long days and special occasions...
There are some v cheap ones on ebay, possibly Rhinegold or Gallop, but I've not seen them in RL..anyone with experiences of them ?

I have a black, full size Thorowgood non-slip numnah, brand new in the packet with tags, that I won in a competition and have never used!
Wonder what I could do with it??????? ;)

Disclaimer: I am not advertising it *waits and expect slap on wrist from 10,000 HHOers and TFC *sigh**
