Hello,

I am really hoping someone out there knows about these saddles and/or has one they can measure.

First I currently have one, love it and I am wanting another.
There problem I have is I dont have a label in mine so I dont know what size I have, or how they measure them.

I think mine is 17", it measures this from pommel to cantel, someone has told me you dont measure saddles like this, that you measure diagonally, and if I do that it comes up 19 inches or so, which I just dont believe, it was fitted by a pro to a 14.2hh I believe.

Another measurement is 9.5 inches from D ring to D ring, now the pony I have measures wide on the thorowgood scale using a flexi curve and this saddle is spot on, this is what makes me believe it is a wide fitting.

Bottom line is I want an identical saddle, can someone help me with what I currently have? Anyone have a 17" wide that could confirm the measurements?

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks :)

You measure from the stud on the pommel, diagonally across to the middle of the cantle. This gives seat size.

I have seen Thorowgoods of this width advertised as anything from med/wide to ex wide, but my Thorowgood of this width was marked as a wide on the tag under the saddleflap.

Best thing is to ask sellers for a picture of the saddle with a tape measure across the d rings, if you know a certain width fits your horse then the measurement will confirm it, at least if you are buying the same make as before :)
