Okay, there's a big price difference so if I choose the cheaper Thorowgood 6-way irons, am I going to regret not spending more on a pair of Sprenger's?

I'm was actually looking at the Bow Balancer Sprenger's first off, but hate the colour of them. Why couldn't they do them in a plain black instead of only bright blue?!

Anyway, opinions appreciated before I spend my hard earned dosh

What difference do they make to you? I have the Sprengers (birthday present) and was expecting (OK, hoping..) the standard of my riding to improve hugely. (2012 Olympics etc etc). Sad to say I can't really see any difference at all!! What should I be looking for exactly??

I have the sprengers and the difference I have noticed was that I no longer have pains in my knees and ankles when riding for longer than half an hour.

I rode for four hours on Tuesday and I never felt the slightest bit of pain, so for me that makes them worthwhile

I too was hoping that my lower leg position would be magically transformed and although I can't truthfully say it has ( not going to be talent spotted for 2012 either!) I do feel that I have more stability and am maybe a little less wobbly!

I have never tried the cheaper alternatives but I think the sprengers are money well spent as they should last a long time.

Which ones have you got the Bow Balance ones or the dressage 4-ways pair? Just wondered what the difference between them was, in how they rode in.

I sustained multiple breaks to my right ankle in an accident on 1st April 2008 and fractured my left ankle in May of this year, so expect to need something to help with the pain when I start riding again next year! Not sure whether to go for the Bow Balance or dressage Sprenger's. Any difference in comfort does anyone know?

I have both! I have the sprengers on my jumping saddle and Thorowgoods on my dressage but can honestly say that I cant tell the difference between them when riding. I have a long term knee injury and they have definitely made riding more comfortable, especially jumping. The Thorowgoods come with 2 types of treads too which is a bonus!

Love my thorowgoods. They have stopped my knee from hurting, and I can tell very little difference in them and the Sprenger 4 ways.... the only thing I will say is I have ridden in the bow balance too and did love them... may get some for my jump saddle when I feel rich!! But for the £ difference, they're not a HUGE difference for normal riding...

Ah well, I invested in a pair of the Sprenger Bow Balance ones yesterday but am most heartened to hear that the Thorowgood's are okay too - as I need another pair for my GP saddle and didn't fancy forking out another 100 quid just on irons. Many thanks for the replies
