Hi.

After having the saddle fitter out she advised that I should change my current saddle to one that has a curved tree to better suit my horse.

She advised either a Thorowgood or a Kent and Masters as they do a high wither version whilst also being adjustable.

After having a look for second hand ones over the last couple of weeks I cant seem to find anything suitable (Brown Saddles seem to be like gold dust! but on a chestnut horse Im really not that keen on black).

I think I may have to bite the bullet and buy new. After having a search I have come across the Thorowgood T8. I much prefer the leather look to synthetic.

Has anyone had any experience of either of these 2 saddles?

Is it worth spending the extra few hundred pounds for the Kent and Masters?

Or are there any other recommendations for a high withered TB that have curved trees?

Thanks =)

I have kent and masters for my ex racer the high withered one. I love it. I also know three other people who have the gp and also love them. Very good big panels for their backs and very comfy. Good leather mine has worn well and will be three years old next year. Love it!

I have have a thorogood T8 & I love it, it fits great & so comfy, mine is the 1/2 leather one & it looks great x

I have the brown thorogood t8 and have to say it looks identical to the kent and masters! They're made by the same people so are exactly the same shape, only difference is the t8 is half synthetic, but honestly you wouldn't notice with mine, it looks like a leather saddle :) I wouldn't bother spending the extra for kent and masters!

pic of my t8, the only synthetic bits are the side panels and the underneath but i really dont notice :) this is the GP but think the high wither looks quite similar

both lol..we had a kent and masters for my massively high withered ex racehorse and have a thorowgood for the high withered narrow shouldered tbx, either saddle fit either horse and they were the only ones that fit them well. PS the Kent and Masters was like an armchair and the Thorowgood keeps you snuggly in place!
