Does anyone have one? My saddler is coming out again this week, and has suggested it might be the best thing for my lad as he has a really difficult shaped back to fit. I am not a fan of synthetic but she assures me they ride and look like a leather saddle. I've looked at them online and to be honest they don't seem bad, so just wondered if anyone has first hand experience with them?

I love them. The T6hiwither dressage is the next on my purchase list!!!

The look lovely, they feel lovely, they are ulterable, they are just ace! and they are made in England in WALSAL of all places =oP

I think they are very well designed saddles. They are the only make of synthetic saddle that i would buy- i wouldnt use any of the other makes if i were given them for free! I dont really care what a saddle is made of as long as it fits.

Yeah, i felt the same, but my saddler lent one to me while she was trying to make my leather saddle fit, and my very fussy mare really liked it, so I eventually gave in and bought one.
They are great for anything sensitive as they are so light, and they really don't look 'synthetic'.
The only downside I did find is that in very hot weather (think we had one day last summer!) the flaps go a bit pliable and tend to stick to my gaiters. Doesn't seem to happen with suede lined chaps.
Definitely worth a try, particularly if you've got a good saddler who can fit it well.

I love the thorrowgood saddles, they're the only thing my tb works nicely in. Getting one for my birthday at the end of July although will probably be the t4??? (which is the suede type one) but it's cheaper (and my parents are paying).

Ooo sounds promising then! I have to say I was skeptical especially as I do affiliated dressage and was worried about using a synthetic saddle, but apparently it isn't so frowned upon now anyway, and I was told you couldn't tell the difference just by looking at the T6.

My lad is 16, and apparently has a "hard to fit" shaped back (high narrow wither, wide fit, big shoulder, narrow barrel - something like that anyway) and the saddler (who is amazing) has said it would be easier to fit the T6 than a £2000 new leather dressage saddle (also easier on the pocket which is always good!)

Be interesting to see what she turns up with!

If you don't want a synthetic saddle, then there is the L6 model, which is a leather version of that very saddle, hence L6 as opossed to T6. I have the Kent and Masters one, which is made by Thorowgood, slightly more expensive then the leather one and slightly different design. I love it though, have had it since Jan and could not be happier. Really comfy for both parties, nothing to moan about at all.

I tried the T6 (Whitaker jumps saddle) and I really liked it, only thing is it didnt fit either Mack or Py, but I'm going to see if it fits the little mare, probably won't (knowing my luck) but if it does that would be great as I'd be buying from someone, so it depends if a medium to wide will fit her or not, I'm thinking it won't though :(

I've just ordered one:D Saw a T6 cob saddle in black and would have been hardpushed to tell it wasn't leather to look at and it feel similar too.

They do the L6 anymore so it would have to be old stock (check they have changable gullets as the older models don't) or have a look at either the Kent and Masters saddles (thorowgood, in leather, hence stopping the L6 - they're the same company) or the fairfax saddles, which are made by vanessa Fairfax, the wife of the owner of thorowgood. They're identical but higher quality.

Lovely saddles. providing you have it fitted to ensure it fits your horse, you can't go far wrong:D

I have a T6 GP saddle and love it - looks just like a leather one. Very light and well made. I also recently bought the leather dressage version from Kent and Masters and Naughty Grey Boy goes really well in that too. My saddler, who is a master saddler, says that they are one the best designed and made saddle by far in that price range.

Well the verdict was that the T6 just didn't/wouldn't sit right on Ben's back, so this morning I am feeling incredibly poor having just had to shell out over £1000 on a new leather dressage saddle :( BUT the plus side is that just riding in it for ten minutes, Ben felt so much happier, he was MUCH more active and freer, my position was better, and I felt a lot more secure, so money well spent!
