What brand do u prefer? 1st choice for me is Elite Dream but hard to come by so next is Snowflake. I hate Beddown and Bedmax you?

Plospan shavings are wonderful - big fluffy soft flakes

I use it mixed with Aubiose though as the poos were disappearing in to the fluffy surface of the bed lol

My yard always sold Snowflake and really liked them but this year they're not selling them as there wasn't enough interest as people have switched to different things so I've bought in bulk from Countrywide. It's cheaper than the Snowflake but I'm not very impressed with it. Rather than absorbing the wet into one smallish area it seems to spread all through the bed so I'm using a lot more.

Snowflake soft chip, nice solid clean bed. Tried the other chip shavings available but didn't like them as they didn't absorb any thing and I ended up putting twice as much in each week.

I have mixed elite dreams shavings with another generic snowflake style shaving on recommendation from the saddlery I bought them from and *touch wood* this seems to be the best solution so far. Lovely big fluffy bed but seems to keep the wee in one place so easy to muck out.

I have one on Snowflake shavings and they are very good, have had to muck out horses on other brands of shavings (not sure what they were) and Snowflake was much cleaner and easier to muck out. It's very absorbent

I like Hunters they are big bales and last. I am in big corner stable and i dont need to use more than any other brand. Have used plospan when hunters went out of stock and they are ok. Also mixed in bedmax to try but not keen on those.

I just use bog standard shaving from my local store. cheaper than all the others and im not using any more than when i used general chip or bedmax. Hated bedmax i was using 2/3 bags a week

Hunters for me too!
I like Hunters they are big bales and last. I am in big corner stable and i dont need to use more than any other brand. Have used plospan when hunters went out of stock and they are ok. Also mixed in bedmax to try but not keen on those.

Bedmax, by far. Can't be doing with Snowflake or similar small flakes, they knit into her coat terribly. I prefer the straw that the other are on really but she eats it and gets colic.

I use Bedmax with Megazorb under in the place my mare pees. I have used Hunters and Snowflake in the past and much prefer the Bedmax as they don't break down into dust like the small flake shavings do.

Bedmax seems to be like the marmite of the bedding world! Some love it and others hate it!
Personally I really like it and use it for one of mine who has an allergy to dust. I find small flake shavings more difficult as the fluff round and poo seems to hide in the bed rather than sit on top as it does on my bedmax- Obviously this depends on the horses I suppose, we use Bedmax at one work and Plospan at the other and we have difficult to muck out boxes and lovely clean ones at both.

I use a cheap small flake no brand bag for £4.50 a bale ~20kg a bag. If i run out of those I nip to Robbies for a few bags @ £6.50 each. I find the smaller flakes absorb much better. I sometimes buy bags of 'dust' to put down as a base too as i find that good too (£5.50 a bag from Robinsons)

Most other suppliers around me are around £7.50 a bag which i think is extortionate. Quite happy with my cheap little white bags :-)

Old feedstore I went to could never guarantee what brand they have. Used hunters, bedmax, wooburn and bog standard European shavings. Liked Hunters best but because they couldn't guarantee having any shavings I started going elsewhere and use Millwood. I love them :-)

Snowflake, I only have the choice of that and easibed woodchip on my yard, the easibed was great to muck out but went through a fair amount and didn't look as clean.
I always feel like when I put a new bed of snowflake down it looks comfier than my bed... :D
