I'm on DIY - anything I need assistance for I pay for.
It's a brilliant combination and ensures my horse is never left out alone, can be turned out later in the winter and will be looked after with confidence when I'm away.
£2.50 turn out / in (including rug change and feet wash if desired).
DIY I pay £40 per week plus bedding and hay. Is v expensive but is the best yard for us in the area by a long way. For DIY I expect a stable, tack room and field - all maintained by ym. For assisted I would expect to be able to pay extra for turn out/bring in, rug change, giving of feed etc. Not sure what odd jobs would cost, ym is very good about helping out with extras so if was a one off then would prob be free. To have them totally looked after (excluding riding) on holiday livery is £10 per day extra. The level of care is second to none though so although peeps on the yard would do it cheaper, isn't worth the loss of piece of mind tbh!
Fencing is maintained to a great standard and anything that needs sorted is done pretty quickly I can get assisted livery for £7 P/D on top which is fed, rugged, turned out, mucked out, brought back in, feet picked out, rugs changed and fed again. Which I think is very cheap.
I provide everything hay,shavings & food.
Oh we have in-door school, out door school and a few x country jumps in our fields too
i pay £25 a week, plus hay and straw. have own tack room and huge all weather 85x35m school with brand new set of jumps and all year turn out, i dont think its a bad price to be fair. really nice yard too.
Thanks for the info guys, have had a few people asking about DIY recently and have never offered it before, so just looking at what people expect for the money they pay etc, just to give myself an idea if I did offer DIY.
Full D.I.Y £50 per month per horse including a stable each, straw, hay, water and electric. No riding school but choice of 3 fields which I can ride in and have 24/7 all year turnout in. Hacking is pretty good too and the yard has my 3 and 2 other non ridden horses there
£72.50 per horse per month which includes use of outdoor school, individual turnout and walker. Anything extra like feed, turnout is extra. I pay for all my feed, bed, hay and matting. I have 2 horses and get one extra stable for feed, bed and rug storage and we all share a tack room. Very friendly yard and only 5 mins from home.
£27.50 per week for stable, grazing and loads of secure storage for tack, rugs and feed.
Hay, haylage and as much straw as you want all included. Small indoor school £5 p.h - use of horsewalker - 50p per day.
To have full livery is £7 per day on top of standard rate.
I love this yard and have told the YO that we'll be claiming squatters rights if he ever tries to move!
I pay £5 for grazing and £7 for stable. i provide hay, straw, feed myself.
No school but do have a paddock that i can school/jump in. I also have 11,000 hectares fo forest to ride through, a beach that is approx 45 minute ride away, and plenty of grazing, my fields are rotated throughout the year even winter.
A friend turns out, feeds etc if i cant do it...more than often she offers to do it every morning i get grief if i dont let her do it lol....
Yard is only DIY.
Prices vary considerably yard to yard in our area depending on what facilities the yard offers as part of the package.
I am on a DIY yard but we have a groom who will provide whatever service we need at additional cost, payable directly to her. It's good as a phone call will get your horse turned out/brought in, mucked out, whatever if you have a problem & can't get there.
We have individual paddocks, stable, 40 x 20 floodlit menege, secure tackroom, cctv, kitchen & toilet, large storage area each in barn for feed/hay/bedding etc, rug room with rug drier, car park & free lorry/trailer parking, good hacking. This is £22 per week. We provide our own hay/bedding/feed etc.
There is a girl at my yard that does other people's horses in return for payment, she charges quite a lot and has really taken the p in the past so not a lot of people use her anymore.
She is very responsible, and will do what ever you ask her but will charge for extra's!
£3.50 bring in or turn out inc rug change
£10 full livery for the day
£4 check over in field twice a day inc fly spray and fly mask on and off (in summer)
but before now she has looked after someone's horse while they've been on holiday in the summer, the horse has been out 24/7 but then she has decided to bring him in, and bandage his legs charging the owner £1.50 for each leg!! So poor owner came back from holiday to have a massive bill from this girl.
She also offered to help someone clip their horse then charged them!
The people that have my horse on loan have him on part livery which is £300 a month which includes bedding, hay, feed and bring in or turn out once a day, but you have to do your own mucking out.
I pay £60 pcm, and have lots of grazing, on lovely sand based fields, sand school, round pen and jump area, along with a tack rom that i share with one other lady, unlimited use of storage for hay etc, never moans if we use hose etc, like prev yard owner, and if we need the odd turn out, rug, etc she is happy to do so at no extra cost, unless it is a regular thing.
BI and TO mon-fro
Mucking out mon-fri
If I tell YO in advance I can't make it on a particular day and leave haynets and feeds made up, YO will hang them and feed him at no extra cost
Stable and grazing (though I guess that's obvious)
Use of sand/rubber arena which I think is 70m x about 35m with a full set of SJ and arena XC jumps and floodlights
We also have a proper tea room, shower and toilet
Muck heap is dealt with by the YO
I pay extra if I want him to go on the walker (covered 7 horse walker with sand surface), for bedding, haylage and feed, and for weekend services. At the weekend, I pay £2 for a BI or TO, £6 for mucking out.
£295 pcm yes that's the going rate for a box/turnout and floodlight school round here!! That does include hay and either turnout or bring in each day. You get a peg in the tack room, if you can squash a box in your laughing. Feed shed is a garden shed with rats and loads of bins to climb over before you reach yours. School is booked on wed, thurs, sat and sun so you can only ride in it 3 days a week unless you feel like steering round 8 wobbly kids! Can you tell I love my yard!!
Ours is between £26 and £30 a week depending on the size of the stable - includes grazing and use of school only (floodlights £1 for 45 mins) and has no one specific there to do the horses assisted but there are always other liverys around happy to help! Lovely yard though
I pay 100pcm for turnout, bringing in, feed and haylage. I supply my own shavings, we can ride in a field however in the winter this is pretty much out of action. YO does all the maintenance and checks horses twice a day. I bought my own sheds as tack rooms so I didnt have to share. We have no assistance unless it is an emergency. Some of the liveries will help, wouldn't change a thing as horses very well looked after and YO is so helpful cant do enough for you only thing Id chnage would be an arena.
