Which make do you advise for a pony with a slight bit of bone, ie not extremely thin thin legs ! I'm not talking masses of bone or any feather either, he has none. He's a welsh c x lightweight cob. So far I've got Sportabac ones but even at a size 3 the seem to be a bit lacking in width round the back legs. I have no doubt they'd be more than ample round the front legs but would need to get the short ones as these ones come right up over his knees! I've read some reviews online about the sportabac ones and other people have said they're lacking a bit in width so which other makes would you suggest? I've looked at premier equine but they look a bit 'sporty' as such . Equilibrium look good but pricey. What about Shires ?

Thanks :)

I Have a welsh cob with about 8inches of bone and use the premier equine ones. They are fantastic!!! Fit nice and snug so mud doesn't get underneath :)

In fact I've just had a 2nd set so I can wash an wear if I want. Although I could manage with one set

I have the Shires mud socks and Roma neoprene wraps. The Shires ones are excellent, and let zero mud in but they're not too shaped at the bottom of the boot. The Roma ones are more shaped and because they're not a close fit they do let a bit of mud in underneath.

I'd try the Shires ones... they're pretty cheap (£20) too

I have Premiere Equine ones and they are great. They can go in the washing machine and come up like new. Love them.

My friend has the Shires ones - they don't go on as well as my PE ones, bit fiddly to make sure they are in correct position but they certainly do the trick. Really good value for the price.

Personally, I would stick with PE. Can't fault the quality.

ah looks like PE are coming up best! He has just over 8" of bone. Soulfull- could I ask what sizes you use? The whole front / hind different size thing is enough to give you a headache!

Megibo- I'd say the biggest issue with them is the difficulty in getting them dried after use for next day, you may need more than one pair. If they fit properly they should be fine if they run about.
