Those of you who give joint supplements.. (inc. suppleaze gold) .....

What joint supplement are you giving if a) your horse has a joint problem
or b) you are giving as a preventative..?

And at what dosage of ingredients (if you know!!) for either a or b, was just wondering what everyone else is giving in comparision to if your horse has an issue, to those (like me) who might give one as a preventative...

(oh and are you happy with it) - (I know this has been done to death and for what's it's worth I have read (and re-read) alot of the old posts but I am just wondering the differences to peoples choices/reactions compared to treating an existing issue to us who use as a preventative).

I use suppleeaze gold at the recommended maintenance dose for his weight, yes he has an existing problem, arthritis being an oldie, and it certainly seems to help him

I was using suppleaze gold at maintenance level. because my horse does a lot of endurance . he doesnt have any mobility problems, so just for prevention really although it does seem to make him a littl bit freer and more elastic in his movement if that makes sense so must be doing something somewhere.

I used Cortaflex for years and it was brilliant but pretty expensive

I use premierflex HA. Marvellours stuff and loads cheaper than cortaflex.

I use it as my ex racer came with a clicky noise in either hock or fetlock, still haven't found out where! She passed vetting e.t.c. So I put her on Premierflex and after a week no clicky noise and she moves very nicely. I just use it now as maintenence. I also use 365 supplement for general health.

Nope, just the maintenance dose at the moment, although I may up it more during the winter months with the cold, wet weather and being stood in the stable

I feed JointFX. I can't remember how much of all ingredients are in it; it is on the tub at the yard so I can find out later if you want to know. There is a lot more in it that everything else on the market though.

My horse has spavins in both hocks so I feed it in an attempt to prevent much further damage / make him more comfortable. TBH I'm not sure how much it really helps and having seen the research published last week which claims neither glucosamine nor chrondrotin actually have any beneficial effect at all, I'm considering whether to bother with a joint supplement at all. That said, he has had 2 courses of Adequan which have really helped and it's basically the same thing.

I feed Equistro Flexadin to a 17 year old, semi retired grade A on maintenance dose - she doesn't have mobility problems per se, just general wear and tear.
I also feed it to a 9 yo IDx connemara as a preventative measure.

I use CortaVet on high dose and have done for past year now. Mare has bone spavins and other leg issues. Before that she was on corteflex but wasnt strong enough long term for her.
