....How long before they were back in proper work? He's just done his 2 days box rest and he's been turned out today, now need to start walking him in hand twice daily

How long roughly until you were back in the school, walk, trotting and cantering no both reins etc?

Mine didn't get that far before she went lame again unfortunately! I think she was sound for about 2 months between having the joint medicated and going lame again, so really we were just hacking out. I would take it very slowly if I were you, and start with hacking and straight lines, rather than schooling and circles.

Its going to depend on the joint treated as well - mine was for SI joint so very different from hocks or fetlocks for example. Mine needed more than just that anyway - but whats your horses problem area?

In my experience, my horse had his navicular bursa medicated, after the initial box rest (to prevent infection) I was advised to bring him back into work reasonably quickly, as in this case work aided recovery.

This was going back 3 years so i can't quite remember what i ended up doing, i would imagine i would have done some gentle hacking for a week or so then upped it gradually from there....

He's been reasonably sound for the last few years - usually other issues cropping up inbetween.

My horsey had his Pastern joint injected last September after xrays showed up mild pastern joint arthitis. Once the joint was injected, I think we waited for a week before he could start work? He is now out and qualified for the Regioanls at Medium :)
He has careful management though, i.e no trotting on the roads, joint supplements, regular turnout, no lunging etc etc

Good luck! Which joint did he have injected?
