How do you stay clean??!! I have been spoilt as have not had to do this for a few years, but i am moving yards on Saturday and will need to go and fee/rug/turn out madam on my way to work, with 7 year old child in tow ( i work at her school!) SO how do you stay clean? i wont have time to totally get changed, plus there isnt really anywhere to change at the yard, so was thinking of shoving something over my clothes....trackies? waterproofs? i used to manage when i had to do this before but i cant remember how!!!

Any tips would be grealty appreciated!!

I have a rather fetching boiler suit for dry days and wellies and waterproofs for wet days.
People still sniff in my direction first thing in the office but we work with animals so everyone is smelly by lunchtime anyway!

My OH always telling me to invest in some overalls, seen someone else on yard use thm, seems a good idea. Worst prob I always find is hair smelling of horse wee!!! Maybe add a rather stylish shower cap?..........NOT!!!!!

i go to my horse at 5am, usually only have to feed.
but if you want stay clean why dont you buy a boiler suit from diy or builders place? lady at our yard has a bright orange one (lol) but it works! think u could prob get waterproof ones aswel, sure ive seen them in rideaway catalogue, but builders shops are prob cheaper

waterproof trousers with wellies underneath (put on and taken off as one, like the vet) in large carrier and old lightweight waterproof jacket, gloves (a must to keep hands clean) all kept in car. Change in 30 secs either end - sometimes tempted not to put everything on, always regret it!!

I just tuck my trousers in my wellies and wear waterproofs on top if it's wet. I avoided smelling of wee by switching from hay to deep littered shavings last month - best thing I ever did. It's cut my mucking out time right down meaning I can get it all done before work and I don;t even have to do a total clothes change!

Thanks for the tips! I was looking at an attractive waterproof overall type thing in one of my horsey catalogues....think i will have a go with waterproofs/wellies/etc and see how i get on! As for keeping my daughter clean before school i dont think i stand a chance!

i find it a fuss to get in and out of a boiler suit. I just use waterproof trousers over wellies and a coat.
Oh and baby wipes in the car so my hands dont smell!!! :)

I think with a 7 year old you stand no chance of them staying clean unless you leave them in the car! My 9 year old is a complete mud magnet and i try to avoid taking her to the yard in school uniform at all costs, she gets filthy in the summer......... So that will be 2 boiler suits needed i reckon, and the 7 year olds needs to be waterproof! Old ski stuff off ebay could be a good option for the 7 year old as it is warm too...

I cheat as mine are at home,
But before work...pyjamas on under waterproofs and wellies to feed them, then in and get back out by 5.45am to go to work.
The joys of horses!

I put a big coat on top of my work clothes and wear my jeans tucked into my muck boots. I work in an office but the dress code is very laid back and I've found that jeans stink less than trousers. I take the poo off the top of the bed while he's eating his breakfast to make mucking out easier after work. I found that wearing cheap pimple-style riding gloves made my hands stink less but they got on my nerves so I don't wear them any more.

I also had a few pairs of boot-cut gym legging thingys that I used to wear to step and they were very good for wearing over the top and whipping off.

My jeep is full of clothes and always stinks of wet dogs and horse pee but I'm happy :D

Not work, but uni (therefore I don't need to look smart, but do like to be clean :p)

Is there anywhere you can change at the stables? If not, get waterproof trousers to put on over, and wear an old jacket or jumper that you can take off before you leave :)

I get changed at work, and keep some disinfectant soap to hand to get rid of smells. I do the horse, then cycle to work so tend to arrive a bit smelly and bedraggled, but a quick change, wash and makeup on and I'll pass (just LOL).

Waterproof Chaps..... amazing!

I wear my trouser in my wellies and if wet I put on water proofs. I always wear a coat to keep my jumper clean. I wash my hands as I leave but also have wipes for my hands.
I work at a in reception at a vet so dont need to worry to much about the smell as its only horse people who see me.

wearing a hat is a must!! Im quite lucky were I am now, I change, straighten hair and do my make up in the tack room! I have been know to change in the car, which can be a challange

I do the whole waterproofs over work clothes thing, baby wipes are a must, but be careful - on a warmer day dont do anything too energetic while trussed up in your waterproofs otherwise stinking like horses will be the least of your worries and smelling like a gym changing room will be much more of a problem!! :)

I also always keep a bottle of perfume in the door pocket of my car, and once out of waterproof, a quick squirt for good measure :)
