A friend has been asked if he'll rent out his field (5 acres) and four stables. He has no idea what kind of prices someone would charge for that for horses. No other real facilities... I've always done livery rather than rent so have no idea... what do you reckon? It's near Bristol if that helps, but any general ideas would be great... Thank you!

I rent grazing only. I pay £1/day/horse. That is in Surrey. There are absolutely no facilities there. Just plenty of grass.

anyhting from 250-400 a month!

Here you can get 4 acres and 4 stables - £400 a month

however for long term i think around £350 is not unreasonable :)

When I rented the same as your friend has I payed £400 I also paid the electric and water bills.

I think it depends where you are and what you will be allowed to do with the yard.

I would base it on basic diy, which around here starts at £25 per week.

Therefore I would limit it to 4 horses as there are only 4 stables, and therefore charge £100 per week/£400 pcm.

Thanks for all the replies everyone - wow, there are real variations! This is really useful, much appreciated! :)

I pay £40p/w for 5+ acres in cheshire. Includes a manege and field shelters. No water yet - that's in the process of being sorted. Once done, the rent will go up £20 a month. We have 2 horses and a pony on there. But the land owner is a friend, hence the cheapness. :)

I rent 6 acres and pay £600 per year. There is water but no other facilities and we have had to improve the fencing, the field adjoins my land so I have a gate through and they have access to field shelter in our paddock. :D

We are in Hampshire and pay £25 a week per horse for a stable yard with 4 boxes and a little feed room and about 5 acres grazing. We are not responsible for the water or electric. We can also help ourselves to as much hay as we want from the farmers barn.

We pay £15 per week per horse for 5 acres & the 2 stables that are currently there to a local farmer (Lincolnshire). We also have another horse with one coming back from loan at the weekend and we're paying £10 for grass livery for these 2. Water & Lecky are included (owner has just installed automatic drinker for us) but we help out with maintenance jobs.

We were paying £20/horse/week for DIY livery at a past livery yard and previous to that paid £10/H/W for grass livery to a friend, again in Lincolnshire

I rent around 2.25 acres, water is by way of a stream that runs through the field, there is a field shelter and stable in the field both with rubber matts. No electric.

We pay £145 per month.

I rented 3acres, 2 stables, small barn & tack room for £10 per week - owner provided water too as the land backed onto his house xx

I pay £150 a year for 5 acres and two stables, running water and electric :D Only cache, I have to share with owners horses she fosters from RSPCA but they are cuties so it's cool :)
