Those of you who share..

..I'm probably going to start sharing a horse with a girl I know. I'll be paying half livery costs and some towards shoes for 2 weekdays, one weekend day.
To those of you who do this or similar, how do you find it, what are the pro's and cons etc..?

oooh tell all- whats the horse like?

I think the main cons are control and would recommend you have an agreement in place. one problem i've heard of recently is what happens if you (as the sharer) can't ride e.g due to lameness, lost shoe, snow, etc. I would personally say the sharer should still pay during this time as its part of having a horse, but some people won't want to pay if they can't ride.

pro's- great opportunity. You get the joy of having horse to yourself without the responsibility and complication of being an owner. Get to pay set price so avoid extra vets bills and things. In my experience it has also lead to having more horses to ride as other people on the same yard may also need help!

other cons- you have to go along with owners views most of the time and respect that this is their horse and what they say goes (even if you may not agree). Since being an owner I would find it very hard to go back to sharing as I enjoy the control of deciding what my horse does and when, how its kept etc. and I also enjoy the security- nobody can suddenly turn round and take them away!!!
