How do you keep their feather clean if you're getting them ready for a show?

I've tried bandages and stable wraps, and the feather pokes out the bottom... I almost want to wrap it around his leg so he can't get it dirty but not sure how...

Suggestions GREATLY appreciated :D

bandages are the best option IMO

i bath them (takes 1.5-2 hours!)
paste then and then bandage up tight!!
feather will poke out the bottom but 9/10 you wont see this bit as it will be in the school/grass wherever your show is ;)

Hi, in my experience I have found this to work...
1.Shampoo legs as normal for show
2.Let dry
3.Use a pair of old tights, cut the leg off, put over leg with any feather tucked up inside tight
4. Apply stable bandages as normal!

Has always worked for me!!!

hehe, glad I could help, also to keep the mane all neat and on the correct side use the other leg of the tight over his/her neck!!!

once again, glad I could help

You could try washing the feathers (don't need expensive shampoo, Tea Tree cheap&cheerful from Tesco's will do); then when thoroughly dry just get some Pig Oil and brush it through - you can do this with mane and tail as well.

This will give you a lovely shiny look; you can still wash the areas again and they'll come up all nice and silky shiny, plus will keep the mud out if you are turning them out (also midges don't like it apparently).
