Those of you with generators

How do you keep it in a well ventilated area whilst protecting it from the weather?

We have a wee hut built from breeze block outside that it can go into if the power goes out. We then run the cable round and through the letter box where it plugs into the power somehow (not entirely sure how it works but am happy that it does when the power goes out!).

We used to leave it beside the fence with a tarpaulin over the top of it and over the fence so like a tent.

For a permanent generator (say to power a yard), I'd probably invest in a hut of some kind.
