I've tried everything but my poor horse was always driven insane by summer sheath problems. It bleeds, swells up itches insanely and flies just congregate there in their millions! Even riding can be effected because he's kicking at himself.
Just last week I bought my first bottle of Avon skin so soft after hearing so much about it helping sweet itch sufferers.
To my amazement it appears to actually be helping him. :)
It's not swollen at all and I've not seen him kicking or stamping in irritation.
I've plastered the area twice daily but it's really seemed to help.
Well worth a try for all your geldings in the same boat! ;) cheap also

That's interesting to know, our one has been kicking at his sheath more lately and does get bothered by flies around that area, luckily haven't noticed any swelling though. Will have to give it a try as heard lots of good things about it but never used it before.

Please do wash inside the sheth flies lay eggs there nd turn to maggots poor horses, alo happens between mare tets. I wipe coopers onto the sheath keeps the pesky beasts at bay, but i still wash the rea daily with cold water to remove ny horribles lurking.

My lad is usually a complete wimp when it comes to putting anything on him, even a tiny bit of sudocreme on a scratch is something terrifying to be dreaded ;)

He's actually not bothered by me spritzing him with skin so soft, I know it sounds stupid but I actually think he's putting up with it with the minimum of fuss because he knows it will help :o

And also with the heat wave we've been having it's been great to have him actually appreciate being bathed rather than trying to drag me away from the scary wet sponge ;)

My boy got a really sore sheath and belly from files and kicking at his belly. I smothered him in udder cream every morning and after a week it's near enough perfect, he used to itch his belly so much but seems to have really stopped this. Vet said if it was working for him to keep doing it. He actually enjoys me covering him in it every day, probably enjoys seeing the mess I'm in afterwards
