When do you ride?
At the mo I'm riding baby ned before work when its nice and quiet at the yard and big ned after work but I have to say by the end of the week I'm knackered and somewhat bored with washing my hair twice a day, I generally get home at around 1930 hours, have a bath and go to the land of nod, fortunatly hubby works away during the week!
I'm just wondering what to do as of next week when its going to be darker in the evenings and I've got to fit in poo picking as well which will be done by head torch,
Do all of you ride every day?

I struggle to ride 1 ned, lol!!Guess it depends on what you are doing with both of them as too how much work they need??My lad is 13 now and i am aiming on 3 days at least(depending on weather),just to tick him over so if i do decide to do a show he is fit enough,if i dont he will be half way to superfit come the spring so i have to spend less time on the slow and steady work

Over winter I will only be riding one every day.
I work 8-5 mon to sat. So will be riding one in my lunch hour or in the morning if it is light enough as she is kept at work. The other one is at home and will be ridden on Sun and my afternoon off.

One of mine is 18yrs old and the other 5yrs old. In summer I ride both at the weekend, youngster probably 3 days in the week and older one 1 or 2 days during the week depending on what I have on. I've been struggling with the darker nights lately so older one only got work at the weekends but has now started to have unsoundness problems (related to her arthritis) so going to save myself some money and time and she'll have the winter off.

Big ned has a compettion coming up and little ned is going so well I just want to keep him going for as long as I can as we've had a rough start and finally turned a corner.
I'm just tucking into my dinner, a yummy bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes, mind you thats one annoying thing with all this I should be like a stick and I'm not!
Forgot to mention I also have to walk my two energetic Springers twice a day as well!
Something completely random, just seen Daniel Craig on the telly, whoof!

Gosh, why do you wash your hair twice a day?

Am I a scuzzy horror? I do my once a day in the shower and it stays nice and clean even thought I ride, do horse jobs, housey jobs etc. Do you mean you wash your hair in the shower in the morning, then ride, then wash your hair in the bath at night after you've ridden? Surely washing your hair just at night would be the same difference? Anyway, off the point!

I have two horses but luckily my husband is a rider.

I don't ride mine every day - tend to aim for 5 times a week in the summer and 4 times a week in the winter. That way I don't have to do every morning.

When the clocks change it will be a struggle! We can right straight into the fields so I will do a couple of mornings a week (plodding in the dark). Will box both of them to a school once a week and then ride both at weekends - that gives me 2 horses with 4 rides each.

As soon as the clocks change I only ride at weekends.

My 3yr old is now backed but the amount of riding she's had of late is minimal as I only ride if someones around. So I'll carry on long reining or lungeing her once or twice an evening in the dark and then maybe ride her once on a weekend.

My 15yr old I usually lunge twice a week in the dark depending on wetness of mud, and then hack and compete on the weekend. She's survived like this for years.

I used to be able to ride in the mornings before work, but now I start earlier it's still dark.

It's really frustrating. There's so much I want to do but it's impossible.

That's the problem with keeping them in the middle of nowhere with no lights or immediate access to the field by car : (

I ride one (the safe, easy one lol) and have a lovely sharer who rides the other (newly backed and full of attitude!). As the 2nd ned (Angel) is so newly backed, I also have her professionally ridden once a week to continue her education. Works a treat so far though poor sharer got a battering today when Angel became Spawn of Satan when she reckoned she'd done enough and ran poor Claire into the school fence!

I too ride one (the lovely Haffie) as shes good to ride out alone. The other (giant IDxTB) is a bit interesting to hack alone :-O so he gets ridden by OH at weekends when we can take them both out and also I have just found a lady to exercise him so we ride out together in the week.

So in winter (no school and wild weather up here in the Cairngorms!) big boy only gets about two sessions a week, and she gets 3-4. They have large turnout fields tho and are out 8 hours min even in winter. About 14-16 spring to autumn.

I have 2 who ended up with the whole of summer off pretty much due to saddle problems, kicking each other, back problems, allergy to insect bites and now Lymphangitis. Each sharing the problems nicely between them so nearly always one is out of action! So they got a bit of schooling in but meant me and BF never got much hacking done.
Now it looks like they will be ready to ride and its Winter! So doubt they'll get what they need, I find its very wet down here! Meant to be rain and gales this pm

Although have found very nice person to ride the younger one a couple of times a week
