Those of you with yearlings?

I've put a bridle on as she did a little showing inhand, obviously been to a few shows and had a few gentle walks out.

My yard owners yearling does nothing apart from go out in the field with my oap, and they bloody thing lept all over me and dragged me all over the place when i bought it in today, i hate the bloody thing and cant wait for it to have its bits off!!

As a yearling they are taken out in the trailer/lorry, taught to tie up , have their feet picked out , their teeth / mouth looked at , taught to lead properly, go to shows so they behave in company. The colts are taught to wear a bit on the show bridles because as two year olds they have to have a bit on the bridle.

I also lead them over poles, in and out of cones, open umbrellas, flap plastic bags, walk them through the river/ford.

I am luck because I have one of my fields that is next to a lane where lorries and farm vehicles go up and down all day and also the noise of a major road so they get use to sounds.

Not much really, I've taken them for little walks in hand where they have met all manner of people, bikes, dogs, wheelchairs etc along the bridlepaths (we are in a busy country park), I've taught them to trot in hand and respond to the basic voice commands of walk, stand, trot on and I've just started introducing the hose for bath days.

If I could I would also be teaching them to load but I don't have use of a trailer/box so that will have to wait.

Glad to hear it sounds like I'm doing the right things :)
Someone else told me to get her used to having her mouth/teeth looked at, this is going to sound extremely stupid but how do i do this?
