Can I ask how much you pay, what exactly you get for your money, who is responsible for water, electricity (if appropriate), fencing, paddock maintenance and anything else I have forgotten.

Mnay thanks.

i pay £15/week for my 3yro- he has 10 acres which he shares with one other horse, 2 huge field shelters and a stream to drink from.
all maintenence is done by yard owners, they check he has 4 legs in the morning and give him haylage sometimes (not that he needs it on that much grass!).

i see him everyday as have another horse there but my 3yros field companion only has a visit from his owner about every 3 months.

Thank you.

Does your field owner rent the field out per horse or per field/paddock. What area are you based, that seems very cheap

I pay £28 per month per horse. We have a 10 acre field in summer and 16 acre in winter, but there are 19 horses on it. The farmer maintains fences and water troughs but there is no elec. He puts hay out in the winter at a cost of £1.20 a day per horse (they get about half a bale each).

That's in west london.

I pay £17 per week. That includes everything (water, maintanence, hay in winter etc) but not checking her. She shares with the old retired folk!

I pay a £ a hand a week, though my mare seems to have lost a hand in height!

YO looks after everything, they have water troughs in fields, use of a building & tackroom. Vet lives on site!

Though I did just earn 2 weeks keep for helping to turf back over a water pipe they had laid in one of the fields! Is a wonderful yard & we are old friends on it!

We all check for each other!

I pay £55/month. Pony shares field with 4--5 others. There is automatic water to the field, and water/electricity to the yard. Hay is included. YM deals with field/fence/yard maintenance, but we all split the cost for poo picking. There is field rotation, and a starvation paddock available. Secure storage areas. A school is, er, a work in progress. It's a fab place!

Anyone know where in Essex there is all round year grazing with off road hacking. Want to move but dont know whioh area to go to, Thanks

I pay £70 p/m for grass livery in Surrey. That is water (auto matic troughs) and electricity included. Our fencing is maintained by the people who own the land, they also roll the fields and fertilise. For extra charge they will come and pull up all our ragwort too. No field shelter but the field is surrounded by lots of natural shelter. We also have the use of a good hard standing yard and tack/ feed room, and I pay 30p/m for my stable if I happen to need it. We split the cost of haylage in winter.
