After a conversation with a friend who has just told a probationer that she will not be kept on, may I suggest that if you are taken on for a job that (after training in the way they do things) requires you to be able to take sole charge of up to 10 horses (6 live out and 4 live in) and use common sense, that you do as your job sheet specifies and in a way that was explained to you several times and again at your weekly progress meetings? as discussed and explained several times please realise that checking the horses who live out means walking across the field and looking at them closely and does not mean looking over the gate. this would mean that you would notice that one of the horses was shivering and should have had a rug put on. when you are doing 4 stabled horses that come in at night make sure that all 4 come in not just 3. feed as the feed sheet specifies and not as they did at your last yard which means that yes the amount of hay fed will be heavier. cleaning tack after use does not just mean wash the bit off. last that I can remamber (and this one made me laugh) do not spend most of the afternoon chatting up the people installing new cctv cameras when the boss has the pictures showing on the tv.......

glad its not just me :D when I phoned she was still annoyed and had not seen the funny side of things. luckily when I started laughing at the tale of woe she realised how the last bit sounded from from an outsiders point of view
