After a not so nice time with B at the end of last year i've been riding him again and he has given me confidence once more, hopefully not short lived.
We had a lovely ride on Sat in the warm spring sunshine and when we got back did a lil bit of schooling in the field.
That turned into just having a bit of fun which is always nice to do. His canter turned into a fast one with his head down stretching and me being pulled forward....but he was enjoying himself.

It was nice to 'bomb' around the field in what in my mind was a bit of a thelwell position! I just love the times that they make you smile, laugh and enjoy riding and just being with them and able to do this.

Will stop now or will get too gushy, i guess i am just feeling the best i have personally for a while and would blurt it!

Know what you mean. A slobby hot breathy smooch off Bruce and his kissable pink muzzle is all I need to cheer me up!

I think the other nice, cute, funny part was seeing him dozing off in the sunshine with drooping lip and nodding head after such fun.
Bit better than the sight of other half nodding off!

When my OH moved up to Cumbria for a new job, Elizabeth and I had to stay down in the south for a couple of months, she to finish her GCSEs and me to finish the term out at work.

Captain was delivered up to our old yard and we spent all day every Saturday and Sunday with him, until it was time to drive down south again. E.'s exams were getting nearer and we reluctantly decided to miss the next 3 weekends to enable her to concentrate on her revision, and to stop her getting too tired as it is a 6hour drive from here to our old home. Cappy was on training livery so was well looked after and getting exercise.

4 weeks later we came to see him. He was out in the field and it was a true Black Beauty moment. E. called him, he reared straight up, let out the loudest whinny I have ever heard and gallop full pelt down the field. Drove off the horses at the gate and came back doing his "smart" driving trot.

I knew before I loved him but that was such a moment of total joy and laughter. Never left him so long again, nor do we get that kind of welcome anymore. Lucky if he lifts his head now! He is secure now. I still smile when I think of it and just wish we had had a camcorder.

Funny, I was just going to do a post similar to this as I utterly love my horse now.

Not saying I didn't before, but it's taken me so long to finally 'click' with him and just be utterly complete and know each other 110% inside and out now. He's priceless to me.

When I see this face everyday now, it makes everything seem worth it :)

And then having certain photos which I think just stand out to me and show what a dude he is and how truly I am with him. I'm not a smiley person lol...

[Yep...I'm smiling in all so far....]

And for the time when I was ready to give up jumping all together...

And for being 110% reliable now...To go anywhere on him anytime with no worries....to not put a foot wrong anytime now....to not gas up...but then not be completely idle either.....to be stabled 24/7 or turned out 24/7.....to be able to be completely up into the bridle and working like a dream and jumping out his skin now.....to then just as happily pootle round on his own with a completely novice 8 year old on his back....

I could go on and on about what he is and isn't.....but I think you get the message haha! He means more to me than anything and probably taught me the most.

I'm smiling writing this now, so your point to your post proved! :)

Know exactly what you mean, had such a rubbish day in the office today but went down to give my horsey a carrot and her little face cheered me up straight away!! Best therapy in the world!!! :)

I know the feeling, to be walking round the yard chatting away to myself (as you do ;) ) an have this hairy beastie nickering back at me!

***Disclaimer - I know he is looking skinny. The vet has seen him and says he just needs muscle, the angle makes him look worse than he is***

Also when this little girl is in the mood for it she is the soppiest girl ever!

Although they both (well mainly her!) drive me crackers at times, I love them both to bits!
