I know I've seen posts in the past where people have cut off the side straps from the acavallo seat saver, has it made any difference to the stability of the seat saver at all?

Because my panels are fixed so don't have the ability to clip them under the panels. I'm planning on keeping the middle pommel - cantle Velcro strap and the skirt 'pockets' but wondering about the feasibility of not having the side straps that attach to the panels

ETA - this is the underside of my saddle - so you can see it wouldn't be possible to fix the side straps

I haven't cut mine off but only tuck them under the saddle flaps. I felt my mare was having issues with them when done properly under saddle.

Never had a problem with movement and that is using it on a young agile big warmblood who has thrown in the odd rear and buck and teleports.

No it's fine with just the one through the gullet. Just tuck them out the way and try before you cut them if worried but they don't do anything anyway. The gel makes it stick to the saddle and the gullet strap keeps it on perfectly.
