what do you feed with yours? and how much does your horse get a day (what workload are they in)?

My cousin (farmer) harvested a LOT of oats last year and says I can have as many as I'd like. My only worry is that they won't give my cob, who is in full work, enough energy. She is currently on 3 feeds a day of 1 scoop of Comp mix, 1 scoop of Maintenace nuts and 1/2 scoop of Hi-Fi.

I was thinking of feeding BOSS with the oats, but what else can I add with them for more energy?

Mine are in light work at the moment so only get a handful once a day, but they do get 1 1/2 scoops of speedibeet and 1 1/2 scoops of alfa a- oil split over 2 feeds, as well as multivits. They are both natives and good doers.

Mine had a 2 scoops unsoaked (filled a bucket when soaked) oats, redigrass/alfa oil and oil. This was split into 3 feeds a day, and my he looked amazing! Occasionally had a course of pink powder and a week of propell but thats my own choice due to his workload.
Had BOSS too.

Thats fat to Scooby!

I feed soaked oats for the heat-energy conversion. I feed them alongside BOSS, a 12% coarsemix and hi-fibre pellets, so I am of no use to you LOL!! I feed to keep energy levels down, apart from the heat energy-giving properties.

At this time of year most of my horses (quarter horses) are in VERY light work. They are ridden about once or twice a month and they are fed approx 1kg unsoaked weight per day.

What is BOSS?

All you need to feed with Soaked oats are Alfa-a to balance the phosphorus-calcium ratio, and a vit/min supplement. You can then add oil to this if you like.
