Those who have older neds with Teeth issues....Advice please

Sorry I have been absent from forum for a while. I had to break the habit today and come on and see how everyone is. ***WAVES****

Any hoo, to my question. Dougal had dentist other day and I got him to check Twiggy as she was sucking her teeth badly after meals. He opened her mouth and instantly said it was an electronic job under sedation. So the vet came out yest, did D's jabs and we sedated Twiggy and started to file them down. I was shocked, one side was about half and inch longer than the other, she has scarring up her cheeks from the sharp point lacerating the flesh and she has massive gaps. He thought she had gone 7 plus years with no dentist. My poor little pone. Any way she is so much better now and it has made her dramatically less nervous. She is being buted till tomorrow but is having no problems eating do far. I am just wanting possible signs to look out for. Should I feed her hay or Hayledge (she has suffered from Lami though not with me). The Dentist said she has not got any compaction in the gaps, but I am just thinking for the winter and with this hot weather I am going to have to feed hay/ hayladge this summer so want to know which to get?? all help/ advice welcome.

My oldie has her teeth done every six months, due to dental issues that had been left for quite a while before we had her!

She's fine, vet told me that as long as we keep on top of the issue, she would be fine, and she is. I feed haylage in the winter and she's out on grass (not a laminitis horse) also damp her feed and make sure she has lots of roughage, for chewing. This helps the teeth to grind down correctly.

Good luck with your horse, I think the main thing is to have them checked/ done regularly.
