How long did you need to treat with gastroguard (or omeprazole equivalent) and did the ulcers come back?

I am currently treating my undiagnosed gelding and he is so far showing an amazing improvement. He used to react violently after the girth was tightened, and so far he is not doing so since being 6 days on omeprazole. I just need to work out how much I need to buy.

You will need at least 4 wks possibly 8 wks worth
Emil had 6 wks on a full dose then a week on 1/2 and a week on 1/4
It is more effective if you can starve for 30 mins. Give dose, starve for another 30 mins. Then feed and ride 30 mins later.
It is a lot of messing around but for me it was well worth it.
I still now always give a chaff feed about 30/40 mins before riding.
So far emils been symptom free for 3 months. Have not yet done any travelling.

Thank you. I was thinking one month then reduce, but may as well go for 6. :)
 
I did 4 weeks on 3 sachets, 4 weeks on 2 and 8 weeks on 1 :)

His did come back though a few months later and he ended up on 1 a day ongoing. :)

Thank you. I may have to keep him on them. In the light of the fact that his reaction is so violent!
 
Gastrogard - 4 weeks full dose, 2 weeks half dose, 4 weeks quarter dose. Is now ulcer free (confirmed by scope) but scope showed stomach more or less normal after the first 4 weeks.

Thank you. So if I go for 4-6 weeks full dose, we should be ok then reduce gradually.
