Those who use/have used devils claw.....

Did you find it effective in your horses suffering from arthritis etc?
And secondly, did you use it alongside any other joint/arthritis type supplements?

Have used it and found quite effective, Grace is not really arthritic, but has a few creaks from past injuries and I have used it short term during particularly bad patch with her, alongside her regular superflex dose - she became springy usual self pretty quickly on it.

Never used is personally but a friend finds it effective with cider vinegar and cortaflex

I've tried quite a few (benefits of owning a feed store!). My horse doesn't respond to glucosamine type supplements, he needs a bit of pain relief at times, he is half a tenth lame on each hind leg, so occasionally unlevel, due to a very old sacroiliac problem. No obvious arthritic changes.

The best two supplements I've used are Net-Texs Substibute, which was fabulous but expensive, and Devils Claw Flex, which is sold through Equus Health, and costs £37.50 for a litre, and last ages, I feed about 10ml a day to my cob (it also comes in a 500ml bottle at £20.00)

Customers who prefer a glucosamine type supplement like Multiplex HA - much cheaper than Cortaflex and works well apparently.

I use NAF Devil's Relief if ever my horse is a bit "iffy" on her bad leg (tore tendon badly two years ago, still in rehab work and will never be 100% but is good enough to hack). I use it as a bute substitute (if her "iffyness" isn't bad enough to warrant actually using bute, but she needs something to help) and it works a treat. I only ever use it for a few days at a time though, not long-term.

I used it for my old horse who was arthritic, and it worked a treat - he came completely sound on it. Our other old pony who had lami and arthritis was also much more comfortable on it.

i also gave it to Tia when she was still a bit footsore after an abscess, and not only did it relieve the pain, it made her windgalls go right down! I now use it on her for that reason.

I have found, though, that the granules are more effective than liquid forms, and also more cost effective.

Yep, my old girl is very arthritic - 2/10 lame in December. Started her on NAF Devil's Relief and she was sound within 2 days (gave loading dose). I do feed it alongside a Glucosamine/MSM supplement, but this is more of a preventative to stop her getting any worse.

Can't recommend it enough to be honest - I was seriously considering having my girl PTS as she really was uncomfortable - now she charges round the field like a looney again lol.

I use Equine Answers Premier flex which is MSM, Chloritidon and HA plus Devil's Relief. After trying several other joint supplements I went back to this and I believe it helps my boy who has rather creaky hocks.

Our HW driving cob has been on it for five years for arthritic hocks. We originally used No Bute and it did work. However, we had to change to Gold Lables Bute Free, which also contains Yucca and MSM, and it really is amazing. Our cob at 18 still does full day, driving a very heavy old Victoria carriage with no problems.

a combination of devils claw and cortaflex made my arthritic (only slightly) older boy 100% sound in a week! I started on the Cortaflex myself after that!

Devils relief has made a massive difference to my boy, hes so much happier , the blacksmith has noticed a difference in his ability to lift up his legs. The NAF one also has MSM in it which i think really helps too

I use Riaflex-equine joint supplement and Riaflex devils alternative on my arthriticc boy. He's fantastic on it. No more stiff horse and still competing comfortably and loving it. Definately reccomend it.

I use NAF devils releif on my 16yr old cob who gets stiff on his back legs and find it very good. Another one that is also good is NAF joint flex, its oil based and is very palletable.

My horse rotated his back and had huge amount of soreness and muscle spams. he is better now but gets stiff on it so brought some devils claw from my feed merchant and the results were brilliant and it seemed to be overnight the change! i am septical about adding things to his feed but am definatley going to keep him on this!
