Well today I could burst with pride :)

A few of you may have read my previous posts ...... my pony/horse is called Bailey. He's a 14.3hh 20year old Welsh Cob cross and he's my first horse. I've had him for a year and a half and struggled for the majority of that time.

Whilst in most aspects he is the most genuine, loving, kind, gentle hearted soul you could ever hope to meet, he came to me (a total novice with no idea) having only hacked out solo for 6 months of his 20 years and so he napped like nobody's business! He used to stop, spin and canter back up the track before you knew what was even happening, most of the time leaving me rubbing my sore bum cursing at his hooves as they clattered past me! As he was also used to being ridden in a school more often than not, faster work tends to blow his brain out hacking and we do our best impression of the cob grand national :p

WELL today we rode to a neighbouring yard to meet a friend to go for a hack. I got on with a steely determination it turns out I didn't need; my gorgeous boy hacked 10 minutes there totally alone and was fine! Didn't stop or attempt to spin once! Ditto the ten minute hack on the way home :)

During the hack he contained his inner excitement and we had TWO lovely canters (not gallops!!!) and he came back to me at the end of the field instead of whizzing left/right and continuing his race!

I couldn't be prouder so as I'm bored and at the computer I decided to post some pictures of my little old man as I could just scream my love for him right now :D Sorry if they're huge, i'm not sure how to resize :(

So everyone this is a few snapshots of my Bailey :o

Bailey certainly looks so well for his age and happy.

You are having one of those wonderful moments where you are busrting with pride and joy when your horse does something really well after a period of struggles :)

He's gorgeous :) love the pic of him with the rug on, he looks most unimpressed! I thought he only had a stump for a tail from that first pic until I saw the others :o

hehehe everyone always says that when I show them that picture, I have to assure them that i haven't been cruel and removed his tail :p:p

thanks everyone, I sure am proud of him today :D

Oooh he is lovely, I love chestnuts. Well done for persevering with him now you will get your reward :)

Lovely lovely boy! You must be really proud (I struggle with napping with mine so understand your pain). Yours has the best name ever too :D

Thanks everyone :)

And cobmum with a lot of perseverance!! Had someone walk out with me for the best part of a year, hacked out in company lots to improve his confidence out and about, realised he always span to the left so carried a whip in my left hand to keep him straight. Didn't let him turn around (short reins) so sometimes we'd stand looking at an object for 20mins + but I wouldn't let him turn from it. Lots of reassurance (voice and rubbing his neck) and gently asing him to move forwards.

We still go past most things sideways but past them nontheless lol xxx
