hi everyone

i often read peoples post on here but dont very often post so thought it was about time i said hello

i live on a yard in derbyshire with my rising 4 year old warmblood and 2 ponies. weve only been here a year so its all been a huge learning curve managing our own land/stables/school etc  but wouldnt swap it for anything.

heres my 'baby horse' he will be 4 this summer and ive just started the path of backing him and all is going well. i bought him for dressage but he has both sj and dressage breeding so hoping we can do a bit of jumping as well if my nerves are up to it! i got him as a 2 year old and he looked a really lanky hairy thing- hes growing up into a rather handsome chap (if i do say so myself;))

i am working with someone to back him so will keep you all posted on his progress.

Beautiful big boy and lovely shetland. I have two, mother and son! I too have got a two year old WB, how was yours to start what was he like on the ground? Mine is quieter than my 8 year old Connie and scared of nothing, is this a good sign? Having your own yard is such a bonus, love having mine at home xx

Beautiful horse and soooo cute Shetland! Lovely that he has got his own special door too! Your yard looks very smart :) I am very jealous as I have just a (very wet atm) field!

WOW, lucky you. What a brilliant combination you have there, and I bet it'all be so special being able to ride out with your daughter. Lovely looking horse and pony, and the short stable door is definitely the height of luxury for a Shetland!!!
Welcome to the forum by the way. Great to read a happy post with great photos. Thanks for sharing.

To be honest perfect pony he was a bit of a handful as a 2 year old! But think that was mainly due to him not being handled enough due to being bred on a competition yard and being out at grass most of the time- now however he is probably one of the easiest to handle on the yard (we also have a few liveries) but he is rather sharp and flighty naturally but I'm hoping this will give him extra presence in the dressage arena! But time will tell :) what are your plans with your 2 year old? Have you a pic? :)

Lovey horse and I love the shettie door, really nice you thought enough about him to give him a 'room with a view'

To be honest I'm sure he's a tb in a Shetlands body! Extremely pampered and always the first shouting at the gate to come in at the slightest bit of rain- he had a rough start in life but is well and truly making up for it now he's with us

Hello! Look forwards to seeing more piccies of progress with your warmblood. Love the shettie pic and mini door! Your stables look amazing - would love to see more pics of your yard :-)

As said you big lad is handsome but OMG!!! cuteness with shettie. Love him and thank you. Well actually no thank you as convincede more to get one. Agghhh :) x

Our Shetland is the same, always first to come in, but always makes me grin without fail every night when you call them in and she leads the charge, those little legs can't go any faster!!
