Hi everyone!
I have found myself in a bit of predicament and wondered your thoughts, opinions or if anyone has experienced the same.
Back in October 2020, i bought a 3 rising 4yo KWPN from a blood stock agent in my area which i had also purchased a 2 rising 3yo this time last year. Lovely horse now broken and riding. So i thought i would get myself another project to break, produce and sell on. I bought both of these horses unseen and i believed the seller is trustworthy seller plus also had him 5 stage vetted (by sellers vet). On arrival of 3 rising 4 yo in October, he was clearly needing condition and was very "raw" which was fine as the seller had stated this. The horse had only been in the country a few days before being delivered to me, so his world had been turned upside down, poor thing! He was barely halter broken, never seen a rug and just didn't quite understand why humans were always bothering him lol but i kept putting this down to him being "raw". The more i worked with him the more it came to light at how immature he was even watching how he would interact with other horses in the field. Comparing my other horse who id bought earlier on in the year it was hard to believe they were the same age but yet kept putting this down to him being raw off the farm and the fact a lot of TLC had been put into my other. Anyway, fast forward to yesterday afternoon, i had booked the vet to come out and removed both of their wolf teeth, once the vet had examined him i was told that he is very unlikely that he is 3 rising 4 and more 2 rising 3 to which everything clicked into place, whilst he was rasping two of his baby caps came out and his incisors are very wobbly which in a horse rising 4 all these teeth would have fallen out and have his full set of adults (like my other 4yo). I have spoken to the seller and he is adamant that my vet is wrong and its apparently "physically impossible". He is KWPN registered and is pink papered and these both state 2017 was his year of birth. Can studs/breeders/vets get this wrong? Im happy to turn him out for a year before breaking him but im still left with a horse that has the wrong DOB on his passport and when i come jumping him (potentially in age classes) or even selling him , this is going to be a huge issue.
Has anyone experinced the same? Any ideas if it is possible that this can happen or any idea on how i can get his KWPN passport changed?
Sorry for the long story, my head is spinning!
