hi, i have two falabella x shetlands, both still coming in at night atm. one of them is body clipped (head and legs left on) as he had slight rainscald ans had a reaction to a lice treatment we used. the other one has his big fluffy winter coat. ive been turning them out both naked as its been nice weather here in ireland but its about 6-7 degrees at night. i only have a fleece and lightweight no fill turnout for freddie (clipped pony). would it be ok to let him stay out at night with just those rugs on? maybe im being too soft on him and he'll be fine but :) they have access to field shelter also
thank you

Of course it’s ok they are hardy ponies!!
Lots of fit/were fit sports/polo/hunters now out fully clipped. The fat ones naked, slimmer ones/less grass usually rugged overnight.

My Young show cob was hunter clipped in winter and hasn’t really got his summer coat through yet, he’s been naked all day/ night for about 10 days, I did relent for a couple of nights when we had a heavy frost but he’s got a shelter if he’s cold, if it was raining it would be different.

My miniature is clipped and out with no rug. She’s too fat. If yours is an okay weight and you think they will feel the cold the lightweight would probably be sufficient as long as it’s off ASAP in the am cause it gets very hot very early.

My fairly wimpy ISH has Irish clip and is out 24/7 with fly rug only - it's warm in the evening until late & then heats up fairly quickly in the mornings atm & she's totally fine.
