Just weighing up my options, we have our own field and stables but planning on moving next year to somewhere with more land which will enable me to have a 3rd horse.
I have a welsh D and a native cob type currently. I have had in the past 2 TBs and rode lots of other TBs and various other types.
I do love my TBs last one being my late mare (sadly PTS with KS)- she could be hot and sharp and TBH she did scare me a few times so not looking for something that is too sharp, also she would lose weight at the drop of a hat, her feet not too good etc so not looking for a full TB although a TBx could work. I do miss the extra gear she always had and i did have lots of fun with her, she loved jumping. My welsh D is sharp and very spooky but he's only 14.2 and i know him inside out and he's not dangerous and he's never worried me, my cob is lovely and well suited to her job which is to look after my 11 year old daughter who has recently taken an interest in riding, plus she's had an old stifle injury so really cant do too much with her, BUT i want something with a little bit more sass - i love my welshie but he can be difficult and frustrating and i have always wanted a bigger horse to do things with. I am tall at 5ft10 and although i don;t look big on my boy i would like to have a bit more horse underneath me!
I have always had young horses and brought them on myself, this time i want something a bit more established. So something thats done a bit!
The main criteria being:
* Dressage being the main discipline but not restricted to this - low level SJ , riding club stuff, hacks out, safe and sensible
* Minimum height of around 16hh
* Age 6 - 12 yrs old
* Not restricted to any breed but would like something other than a cob/native or TB.
* Doesn't have to be a world-beater or flash!
Also would this type be within a 10k budget do you think?? or is that wishful thinking! haha
