Thoughts on sharing

Hi all,

I’m going to make this super vague in the hopes that I don’t get removed for advertising, so feel free to PM with any thoughts!

My amazing sharer of the past year is unfortunately no longer able to share for work related reasons, and I’m seriously struggling to find someone else. I have put my horse up on various well known websites (some free, some paid for) and local Facebook groups, I’ve contacted some trainers I know, I’ve asked friends to post on their Facebooks…but I’m just not really getting many responses. The financial contribution, and the time of year are the same as when I was looking last year, but the number of responses is significantly less. What's the difference?! The horse is further along than she was last year, so better to ride. We’ve moved yards, but only by 15 mins (although it may look farther, which may scare some people off)?

My sharer finishes at the end of this month, and I’ll be seriously stretched financially after that, so suggestions of websites (even if they are ones I’ve used before, all suggestions are welcome!), or general thoughts are hugely appreciated.

Not much help but I struggled to find a sharer. I think it's partly because I live in the country so there are fewer people about, though plenty of them are horsey. I have only managed to find teenage girls to share my horse, thankfully he's well schooled and mature enough to be suitable for an intermediate novice. I advertised in tack shops, online etc and didn't have much response, other than teenagers from the local riding schools. Plenty of adults wanting a full loan to take to their own yards though! I just think people don't really have the time or spare cash any more. 5 years ago I gave up a share to buy my own horse and there were loads of people sharing horses then.

It took me over 6 months to find someone. I think you just have to keep trying. I have two nice ponies and was offering chance to get out and about and no stable duties or sole responsibility, just someone to ride with for me really. People seemed to want a share right in town and 10 miles seemed too far for a lot who enquired. Hope you find a good one in the end.
