Thoughts on the matters raised by this incident?

I found myself in a similar situation a year ago. I had just had that one in a milion fall that we all dread and was seriously knocked about. The "paramedics" at the event were unbelievably bad . Couldnt get a neck brace on and didnt want to use a spinal board, basicly they were afaraid that they might have to take all their shiney toys out of the 4x4 ambulance to get me in . So..... they persuaded and helped me to stand up and sit in their vehicle. AN air ambulance was ruled out by them as it would have involved carying a spinal board and clearly they didnt fancy the exercise. I then had the most painfull ride of my life (neck and back) to the start of the event(a sponsored ride). When I got there they basicly suggested that I didnt want an ambulance and would I please sign some bit of paper they waved under my nose. I then spotted a friend and she agreed to drive Bob the nota cob home (bless her ) and her boyfriend was persuaded to get me the hell out of there and away from the "paramedics" and to a hospital. He did this and then recieved a completely unfair telling off from the A &E people who were considering cutting the roof off his car until I pointed out that if damage had been done it was long before he came on the scene and helped me. They did take it vvery seriously ,getting me out of the car. I spent the next 12 hours on a spinal board and from that hospital to another with better facilities. 3 weeks in hospital, serious nerve damage in the neck ,paralysed right arm and lung. If I could prove the paramedics caused any of this I would sue their arses off,but I suspect the damage was done when I hit the ground. Its not about not letting a broken person get into your car,its about standing up to people who want to take the easy option ,and insisting that the profesionals be brought in.DONT MOVE THE PATIENT regardless of what the patient may believe they can do,They are often not in a fit state to decide anything.Edited to add that I am a lot better now, I have full use of my right arm again ,though it does hurt and feel a bit odd at times. The lung is still not working properly , but at least I am alive and can walk about.
