Can i have your thoughts on this horse please, not for me but a friend looking to buy a andalusian stallion and has seen this one around and pretty much fallen in love with it! Shes an experienced amateur rider who wants to do dressage and a bit of showing, do you think this horse would be suitable?
Ive already said he looks very heavy in front and btv in the vid but thats as far as my knowledge goes, so if anyone can give me more info to pass on about way of going, confo etc would be very much appreciated:)

OH (new-ish to horses) says "that is a funny looking horse"... and I agree! Loads in front, back end not really in proportion.

On how horse was lunged OH (yes, even a beginner!) says "he wasn't really behind it was he" and no, he wasn't.. very odd technique from handler.

Horribly over bent under saddle too.

Will need a lot of gentle retraining.

OH noticed something 'funny' abt movement behind ("it's back legs move oddly, particularly the right, no?"). Doesn't track up.

Poor horse.

Looks like a lot of work required, it is 10 years old and has all the tricks to a degree, although they are not really correct or established, seems to have no basics in place, questionable soundness behind at times. Very cresty but this breed often is would look so much better without so much neck.
Would not be liked by dressage judges, no idea what is expected in the show classes for these types.

The crest is not just big,its showing signs of adipose fat deposits, which is a sign that the horse has EMS.(Equine metabolic sydrome.)

These can be hard to shift even with diet and exercise.

He is stunningly marked and has moments of flashy movement.

But I think your friend could do a lot better.

It is nice for its type - Andalusian - but if you want good dressage scores, then its way of going is against it. Why a stallion? Pain to manage unless you know what you are doing. Neck will get worse.

1) Don't like the way he reacts to being handled.

2) Its all "up and down", no actual forwards movement. I don't like the way his default shape is overbend too.

Not my type sorry. There are nicer Andalusians out there.

He looks like a Bayer model horse! Princess Pony beautiful but not quite right.

Hard to tell as he's never allowed to move naturally but he looks like he dishes in front. The rest, inc off backend movement looks to come from rider interference. If he was just allowed to move forwards naturally, he'd be far nicer.

The neck fat would also worry me and could potentially collapse.

a cut and shunt horse front and back don't match.
Awful neck that would worry me to death if she's goes ahead I fear there's a good chance this horse won't be able to graze in the uk so she needs to think that though.
Would worry about it to handle did not like it's interaction with the handler on the ground at all.
Looked difficult in the hand ,not though ,poll way too low and BTV the whole time waste of time to complete over here without loads of work.
Nice markings but those will go.
Whole thing looked manic to ride even with out the ghastly music.
IF I was looking for a PRE and I am not anti them at all I would not look at this one but find another.

I really don't llike the way he moves, very stilted and jerking looking, not fluid and easy at all. Lateral movements don't really seem to be correct either, has a horrible walk when being ridden, but in all fairness, I m not sure if its the horse or the way he is ridden overbent.
He seems quiet enough though but I think there are better examples of the breed that your friend could buy.
Kx

I feel very sorry for the poor bugger. He was probably a nice boy until they did whatever weird things they did to turn him into what looks like a Disney caricature of a horse.

I don't know enough about the breed to know what is conformationaly correct for them.

My one question is though - why does she want a stallion?

Not a good example imho, also if it is from Majestic then it will be in the 5 to 6 figures - far too much for a cut and shut which does not go forward - would watch that neck too, if it collapses that is a serious fault, you could drive a bus through his front legs - on the plus side he is a lovely colour but even that will change - sorry!
