3 yrs ago my advanced dressage horse damaged his hind suspensory. He was operated on had loads of time off and I am pleased to say has come back to where he left off. Problem is I am now paranoid every time he trips etc. I get worried. I want to start going to clinics and compete again but I don't want to break my lovely horse!!! Would you have his legs scanned at this point as a precaution?

Yes if you think that it would reassure you, and I suppose now would be a good time to do it as he has regained his previous levels of fitness and ability. Well done by the way and I hope the scans don't show any damage :)

Make sure that his hooves are correctly balanced. Even having the toes slightly too long can cause a horse to trip more often (as you are worried about him tripping, it seems wise to reduce the chance of him tripping, plus well balanced hooves will be better for him anyway).
