Bit of a late one- busy week! After the week I've had I don't care that some think we're not matched, i just want to remember the good weekend that was last!
Went trucking up Thursday night after work (best part of 5 hours), a bright walk to the stable and 2 hours later he was crashed out lying down...these youngster! Took my fat (tongue in cheek ) little one to 3 counties for a weekend away last weekend, doing the novice workers (his first course on grass and my first jumping at such a 'big' show), the C+D picton and the Pally inhand and ridden classes.
We've mainly been getting the driving polished:
So he'd had about 6 weeks 'off' jumping so we had a last min practice in the storms of last week, dodging falling wings...
We also found high winds do wonders for our paces!
First up was the workers:
and video of the last half of the course:

Ultimately we did have two stops and a technical E at the start of the course so no placing (fence 1 and then fence 3 which was a style which just came a little early in the course for him to have enough confidence), but he finished very well and we had a pop back over some warm up fences. I'm confident that with a few more courses under his belt he'll be away! I know our equifest plan now....
Not many pictures from the picton but really pleased with how he went. We got called in next to a maxi version of ourselves!
and he really tried in his show
Slight blip with regards to standing for confo and we were out of the top 6 but still a great results from a high quality field.
Day off in the heat saturday, partly to bask in our success from across the show- Alivn who got reserve breed champion at the area club show for his breed! He's so... cocky... that he genuinely seemed to enjoy being next to the hatching Rhea and having an almost constant crowd around what he thought was him!
Then our first dabble into the palomino society classes on what was I'm sure the hottest day ever, at lunch time...resulted in two pleasing places. I don't think his colour is good enough to pursue much more of the inhand but lots of promising comments re. his ridden performance
Onwards and upwards- can't wait for equifest now to see a lot more courses! Next stop is (minimus) team jumping, then back to scurry with the orange one the weekend after Love my little pony! He was a bit of a brat at times this time out on the ground (he is now living out at home so not getting so much handling) but all things considered a jolly nice weekend. In part thanks to both Ester and my little sister who tagged along to play groom
